I was in the wrong dream by Doraliz A. Orengo Molina

ree

Watching that window from my bed.

The night there, it’s so beautiful.

I love this room.

I wake up.

I walk down the stairs.

It’s 7:00 am.

It’s the perfect hour to swim.

I make my coffee.

I put my bathing suit on.

I go to the pool.

I swim.

I want to memorize it.

I love my hair after the pool.

I watch the beautiful town.

I said this is forever.

But I wake up in the wrong bed.

No stairs.

No pool.

It was just a dream.

Dreaming again of being there. But I can’t.

This poem belongs to my eighth collection titled Time Flies but I’m Still the Same. This poem is about the old beach house that I grow up in since I was 7 years old up until I turned 16. Unfortunately, this house was sold and that was the end of my childhood. One day, I had this dream that I was still in it and I just knew that I had to write a poem about it. The song that inspired my writing is “Beach Baby” by Bon Iver.
